It’s official. Part two of Yellowstone season five is not returning until November, but take heart. There is a special summer treat ahead for fans of the Yellowstone universe created by Taylor Sheridan. Paramount Network has announced that beginning Sunday, June 18, 2023, it will air the full season of 1883, including extended “featurettes” at the end of each episode.
The award-winning show, which stars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, is the first Yellowstone prequel and follows the origin story of the Dutton family as they expand West. Originally premiered on the Paramount+ streaming service in December 2021, the 10 heart-wrenching episodes left fans wanting more. While there is no season two in store for 1883, the featurettes will help satisfy the craving for a deeper dive into this early chapter of Dutton history.
The June broadcast marks the first time viewers will be able to watch the show on cable TV.
How to Watch 1883
To view the special broadcast of 1883 including bonus featurettes, tune in to Paramount Network via your cable provider on Sundays, 8PM ET/PT, beginning June 18, 2023. All episodes are also available to stream on Paramount+; but do not include the extended featurettes. (A source at Paramount said that some of the featurettes will be released online as well.)
Paramount+ offers two plans: for $4.99 a month, you can sign up for the Essential plan, which includes limited commercials. The $9.99 Premium plan is ad-free (except on live TV and a few shows) and includes access to your local CBS station. Both options have a free 7-day trial. If you’re feeling ambitious and time it right, you could binge-watch the season during a 7-day trial.
Paramount+ is home to a host of Taylor Sheridan-created dramas including Mayor of Kingstown, the upcoming 6666 (a present-day Yellowstone spinoff set in Texas), and 1923 (another chapter of the Dutton family saga starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren that has been renewed for a second season), as well as thousands of TV shows and movies.
Is 1883 available on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or Peacock?
While the first four seasons of Yellowstone stream on Peacock, 1883 can only be found on Paramount+. It is not available through any other streaming service. It is also not available on cable TV, except for the Paramount Network special broadcast scheduled to air Sundays, 8PM ET/PT, beginning June 18, 2023.
