Sister Wives season 16 showed numerous cracks in the Brown family dynamic, including the hiring of Kody and Robyn Brown’s nanny. It’s easy to question what the family helper actually did for the fourth wife, who didn’t have a job. It was somewhat of an odd move for Kody to hire help, and it’s unclear what exactly the nanny’s role consisted of.
As the worldwide pandemic struck, Kody cut his family off from the world. The wives were encouraged to self-isolate, and not allow their children to socialize. Robyn decided to follow her husband’s rules, which resulted in her being able to spend the whole two years with Kody by her side. Kody’s three other wives, who have since divorced him, Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown, were not pleased with the strict rules. They were often punished for not listening to the patriarch. Due to Robyn’s ability to follow rules without question, she was eventually rewarded with an at-home helper to raise her children.
Only Sister Wives’ Robyn Was Offered A Nanny

During Sister Wives season 16, Christine, Meri, and Janelle learned that Robyn had a secret nanny in her home, while the rest were being shunned for not self-isolating. There are several factors that may have contributed to the hiring of a nanny, including the fact that Robyn is often thought of as Kody’s favorite wife. It’s possible that the new helper wasn’t there to assist with the children, but rather to be courted by Kody. Robyn’s oldest child, Dayton, is 22 years old, and more than capable of lending a helping hand. To add insult to injury, the other three wives were never offered a nanny.
Sister Wives’ Robyn’s Nanny Was Her Step-Niece
Robyn’s mystery nanny ended up being Mindy Jessop, who was actually her step-niece. Mindy also hails from a plural family background. Sadly, no one really saw what the nanny did. One would assume Mindy helped keep the house tidy (and kept Robyn company), but the job description doesn’t add up to the job title. Even Kody’s son Paedon Brown joked on TikTok, as he wore a questionable t-shirt that read, “What. Does. The Nanny. Do?”
In an Instagram Live, Paedon talked about several aspects of the Sister Wives storylines that were interesting, answering questions and offering his insights. One particularly interesting detail was revealed when Paedon commented that he believes that the nanny was fired by Kody after his divorce from Christine. Although it isn’t a complete confirmation, because Paedon admitted he was unsure, it does offer a possible solution to the much-discussed nanny situation. If Kody did fire the nanny, it’s conceivable that another will be hired at some point, considering Robyn’s history with nannies.
Whether Robyn and Kody’s nanny is a secret surrogate is still an unanswered question, but Sister Wives fans reacted strongly to the hiring. The move was hypocritical and insulting to the rest of Kody’s wives. Both Kody and Robyn have yet to explain why they needed the extra help, and one can only assume that they were looking for a disguise for Mindy, who probably just wanted to be around family. Hopefully, the issue will be addressed someday.
