Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) return to the ranch for a brand new season of Yellowstone. As millions of fans eagerly await the return of the hit Paramount Network drama, the latest clip from season five has teased more tough moments for the fan-favourite newlyweds.

Rip’s hardened wife Beth has shown a rare moment of vulnerability in the latest sneak peek at Yellowstone’s fifth season.

After years of anticipation, the on-again-off-again couple finally decided to tie the knot in signature Dutton fashion in last season’s finale.

However, their newfound happiness will open them up to even more challenges as they’ll be struggling to keep hold of their relationship in the ongoing war against the ranch.

A new clip released on The Tonight Show has revealed just how difficult Beth is finding her life as a married woman.

In an emotional private conversation, Beth admits she regrets how much time they lost together thanks to her refusal to make her relationship with Rip official.

“I robbed us of so much time together,” she tearfully tells her husband. “Because I was… It’s still robbing us.”

Rip is quick to assure her he doesn’t need that time back, but Beth is still convinced she wasted years of their lives by keeping him at a distance.

“Whatever it took, I don’t need,” Rip tells her. “I’m happy, Beth. With you, with life. Everything’s good.”

“But we needed what I took,” Beth argued, before Rip pulls her in for a tight hug.

Rip then offers the only advice he knows he can give, telling her: “You need to find somebody new to fight.”

In the ongoing war for John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) land, Beth has been one of t he most reliable allies he has in making sure the ranch stays protected from its competitors.

As the Dutton’s chief financier, Beth scares away the competition with her sadistic negotiating skills and brutal business acumen.

She even managed to wrangle her adopted brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) back into her family’s grip by blackmailing him for murdering his biological father, Garrett Randall (Wes Bentley).

However, with the ranch seemingly safe for the time being, Beth is clearly struggling to find her place in the world without an adversary to tear down piece by piece.

Thankfully, Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) appears to have an answer to Beth’s dilemma in the form of her right-hand woman Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri).

In a behind-the-scenes interview for season five, Kelly teased: “Sarah will be an adversary for Beth in a way she’s never experienced.

“That’s going to be like two Goliaths. When she sees her opportunity, she’ll take it.”

While Yellowstone newcomer Dawn teased her character is a “ringer” for John’s daughter, promising a fierce bout to come when the two women finally meet in season five.

A new rival could be just the thing Beth needs to set her back on the right path, but will Market Equities’ latest attack on the ranch prove too much for the Duttons to handle?

If you’re eager to watch the second half of season 5, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Although Paramount previously announced that the final episodes would air in the summer, the latest update confirms that they will begin in November 2023.
