LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew McConaughey is reportedly in talks to star in a spinoff of the popular series ‘Yellowstone’. Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton in the popular show, has expressed a desire to be a part of the upcoming spinoff alongside McConaughey.

Bentley’s character Jamie has been a source of constant sadness for the actor throughout the five seasons of ‘Yellowstone’. However, in the midseason finale, Jamie decides to confront his father (Kevin Costner) and sister, igniting a newfound sense of empowerment. Bentley predicts that Jamie will make a significant impact, possibly causing major disruptions. Paramount Network announced that the show’s fifth season will be it’s last, with the final episodes set for November after a delayed return due to behind-the-scenes issues.

‘We’ll have to see what’s coming down the road for Jamie’

In an interview with THR, Bentley was asked about the expanding ‘Yellowstone’-verse and the potential spinoff. When questioned if he would be interested in appearing in that universe, Bentley expressed openness to the idea of popping up somewhere in that universe. “I’m open to that. Taylor [Sheridan] has something in his mind about where this story goes and if Jamie fits in, I definitely would be interested in being a part of that. But if it’s the end of the road for Jamie, like I said, I’m ready to wrap him up and celebrate the attempts at accomplishing this character. We’ll have to see what’s coming down the road for Jamie.”

‘It’s a fascinating thing to play.”‘

Bentley said that “getting the chance for the character to develop and change” throughout the show has moved him the most during filming. He continued, “You can get on a show and have a character who doesn’t have a whole lot of change. But Taylor has taken me on such a long ride that to now get to this point in the ride where Jamie is actually changing, that’s more rare than people may know. You can imprison yourself quicker than anyone else can with the thoughts and the things you think you’re supposed to be, rather than being who you are. And that’s Jamie in a nutshell. He’s in his own prison. He’s still just a rat in a cage, you know, despite all his rage. And it’s a fascinating thing to play.”
