Tim McGraw’s Latest ‘1883’ Clip Causes a Major Stir Online

Tim McGraw is busy promoting one of his beloved acting jobs on Instagram, but it’s causing folks to ask a very important question in the process.

In early May, fans of Yellowstone were ecstatic to learn that the prequel series 1883 would air for the first time on primetime television. Starting on June 18, they were able to watch the entire 10-episode series every week by tuning into Paramount Network instead of watching it on Paramount+. As the episodes continue to air every Sunday night through August 13, Tim (who portrays James Dutton) went on Instagram in early to post a clip ahead of the show’s fourth installment.

“Are you ready for a new episode of #1883TV?” he captioned the teaser on July 2. “Tune in tonight at 8/7c on @paramountnetwork.”

Since 1883 accumulated a huge following back when it premiered in December 2021, fans immediately begged for some answers about whether a season 2 is potentially in the works.

“I’ve seen the first series twice now @thetimmcgraw…. when is series 2 out?” one person asked on Instagram. “Yes! I’d love another season! [Please] 🙏🏻❤️,” another implored. “I wish they had more seasons. This show was great,” a different follower added.

Sadly, this looks to be the end for this era of the Dutton clan, as creator Taylor Sheridan confirmed to Deadline in February 2022 that 1883 was a “peek through time to show you this one specific journey.” But it doesn’t mean Tim can’t show up in other iterations of the Yellowstone universe, because there is another series set in this time period that may give his character a chance to return.

On August 8, news broke that the spinoff 1883 series Lawmen: Bass Reeves will premiere on Paramount+ exclusively this fall, along with a sneak peek posted online. What’s more, Deadline reports the show will watch the real-life titular character (played by David Oyelowo) “bring the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life.”

Who knows, maybe James Dutton (and subsequently, Tim) will be back onscreen before we know it…
