Kelly Reilly is best recognised for starring in Paramount Network’s hit drama, Yellowstone as the fierce and abrasive Beth Dutton.

As rumours continue to swirl about the future of the Kevin Costner-led Western, Reilly has landed a major new role in the upcoming film Little Wing.

The actress will star alongside Brian Cox who recently moved viewers to tears following his exit from HBO’s Succession.

Little Wing has been described as a “coming-of-age film” which will see Reilly star as Maddie, the mother of a 13-year-old.

The upcoming Paramount+ film is the onscreen adaptation of the New Yorker article of the same name written by Susan Orlean.

Little Wing follows 13-year-old Kaitlyn (played by Brooklynn Prince)  who, reeling from her parents’ divorce and the impending loss of her home, is drawn into the world of pigeon racing.

She hopes to solve her family’s financial woes by stealing a valuable bird but instead forms a bond with the owner who cultivates her love of the sport.

With Reilly starring as Kaitlyn’s mother Maddie, Brian Cox will portray the pigeon racer, Jaan.

13-year-old actor Che Tafari will also have a leading role as Kaitlyn’s friend and classmate, Adam.

According to Deadline, Little Wing is currently in production in Oregon and has been in the work for over a decade.

The publication described the film as a “passion project” for its director, Dean Israelite.

As Reilly has moved on to more heartwarming pastures, this will undoubtedly spark concern among Yellowstone fans who are eagerly awaiting updates.

With the series currently on hiatus for its third month, recent reports have raised questions about the show potentially coming to an end with season five.

Although 12.1 million viewers tuned in for the season five premiere, season six has yet to be confirmed, which leaves fans anxiously awaiting part two of the instalment.

These rumours were further fuelled by Kevin Costner and other Yellowstone stars’ absence from the PaleyFest panel last month.

The New York Post reported claims from multiple sources who revealed Costner won’t return to the show following a dispute with showrunner Taylor Sheridan.

The insider told the publication: “It’s the same as with any showrunner and big star, there’s respect, but there’s friction

“Hopefully, Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like Yellowstone will end after this season.”
