Yellowstone’s Most Confusing Moment Drives Fans Wild After All These Years

This past year has not been the brightest for Yellowstone, but it’s not like it wasn’t full of cringeworthy moments before.

When it comes to Yellowstone, fans have a lot to be thankful for. Since its 2018 premiere, it’s become a genuine cultural phenomenon, full of almost everything a good Western needs to become the best.

There’s the picturesque scenery, the complex plot, and the great acting, with Kevin Costner in the lead roe (which would have been enough on its own).

The series tells the story of the Dutton family and their constant attempts to preserve their livelihood – a huge ranch that borders America’s first national park.

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. For all its greatness, Yellowstone proved to be one of those shows with a lot of confusing moments that fans cannot forget no matter how hard they try.

For example, there was a lot of criticism of season 4, where fans were left hanging at the end, having a hard time understanding why they bothered to watch the whole season only to feel betrayed after the finale.

One of the central storylines of the season was the development of the bond between Beth, who is known to be quite a narcissistic person, and the young and troubled boy Carter.

She brought him home to Yellowstone and suddenly started acting like a mother to him: showing compassion, love, and actually making him feel like a real member of the family.

It was the first but not the last bizarre thing that happened in this story, if we’re being honest.

Up until that point, Beth had never shown any interest in children, even blood relatives like her nephew. So witnessing her strange, sometimes even forced bonding was a bit too much.

That was what the fans thought until the end of the season. Feeling so much warmth, Carter finally relaxed and called Beth ” mamma”… Little did he know that this would shatter his glass castle of a “new home”.

And here the fans found the classic Beth they know. She simply flips out at the boy and shows him his place and makes sure he never calls her that word again. What even was that?..

That totally unexpected ending completely wiped out any potential Beth had and left her at the entry level (if only we knew it was only the beginning).

Until this day, fans still feel angry at writers for simply wasting their (and Beth’s) time.
