What Could 1944 Be About?

While there is no information about 1944 besides the title, the plot of the show will likely deal with the impacts WWII had on America.

We will likely see how the Duttons managed to keep their ranch afloat during one of the hardest times in history.

There are plenty of possibilities of what life could have been like for the Duttons in the 1940s as they run the Yellowstone Ranch.

Maybe some Dutton men will fight in the war, leaving the woman to run the ranch. It’s also a possibility the ranch flourished during Montana’s agricultural boom caused by WWII.

Hopefully, more information will be available soon regarding the plot of 1944.

Could Matthew McConaughey Be Joining 1944?

According to Deadline, Matthew McConaughey is in the works of joining the Yellowstone universe. Show creator Taylor Sheridan and McConaughey are reportedly plotting a potential franchise extension.

While there is no confirmation as to McConaughey’s role in the universe, there is the possibility he could be the lead man in 1944.

Though it is currently just speculation, the recent news of McConaughey joining Sheridan and the upcoming series 1944 could be connected.

McConaughey and Sheridan’s “potential franchise extension” is big news as “it is expected to include several of the big stars.” The extension would be a continuation of the Dutton saga.

As for now, we will just have to wait for more news regarding 1944 and McConaughey’s role in the Yellowstone universe.

While there is no doubt Yellowstone is popular in America, as it is the number one show on cable television, its success doesn’t stop there. Yellowstone, along with its prequels 1883 and 1923, has found global success.

“I was just in Europe two weeks ago. They talked about it in London, I’m like ‘how the hell do you know about Yellowstone in London?’ It’s a big, big show. And it’s the highest quality of television being made right now,” said Prince.

Several countries around the world are enjoying the story of the Dutton family and their ranch. People simply can’t get enough of the epic Western drama.

The Impact Yellowstone and its Prequels Have on Montana

With such wide-found success, Yellowstone and its prequel series have had a big impact on Montana.

Montana tourism officials have found that the filming of Yellowstone in Darby, Hamilton and Missoula has had a major impact on the state’s tourism economy. A study found that the series brought an estimated 2.1 million visitors and $730 million in spending to Montana in 2021.

“We spent $75 million last year just in the Bitterroot Valley on housing in hotels, and wages and bars. We also do a little television series called ‘1923’ that was shooting in Butte. We’re going to draw up about the same amount of money up there.” said Prince.

In addition to the money being spent on production in Montana, the series is also hiring Montanans to work on set.

Montana filmmaker Lynn-Wood Fields started the Media Training Center two years ago pit out of Missoula. The center partners with Accelerate Montana to develop training programs for those interested in working in the film industry.

“It’s a big deal that Montana has the No. 1 television show in the nation filming in our backyard. We also have over 100-plus productions that film besides that, all across the Hi-Line to Browning, and across the state, so we’re seeing benefit in film all over,” said Fields.

The addition of 1944 is big news for Montana, as it would further the benefits the state has seen from Yellowstone and 1923.
