After watching Yellowstone season 5 part 2, viewers are left with a lot of questions. But if you ask actress Kelly Reilly, also known as Beth Dutton, the following is the path that she believes events will take in the future.
Fans of the series that aired on the Paramount Network for five years became enamored with the turbulent relationship that existed between Beth and her husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). In a recent interview that she gave to promote the Blu-Ray and DVD release of Yellowstone season 5 part 1, the actress discussed where she sees the couple’s romance going in the future. In the featurette, Kelly expressed some skepticism regarding Beth and Rip’s ability to withstand the test of time.
According to Insider, she elaborated by saying that Beth is “haunted by her past.” “She has a lot of regrets and she has a lot of secrets that he doesn’t know… there is something that is under the surface that will one day, I’m sure, come, and she is probably certain that she will lose him.”
Those who follow the popular Western drama may already be aware that the couple finally committed to one other in the form of a surprise wedding ceremony in the show’s fourth and final season. Kelly suggested that some of the challenges Beth overcame earlier in her life will come back to haunt her in a way that fans may not anticipate because the couple both had histories before they were able to make their relationship work.
Kelly believes that there will be a number of challenges for Beth and Rip’s relationship while they are in Yellowstone. The reality that Beth and Rip are unable to conceive biological children together. After Beth got pregnant while she was a teenager, her adopted brother Jamie, played by Wes Bentley, gave permission to a doctor to perform a covert sterilization procedure on her. As a result, the lone Dutton daughter was rendered sterile and unable to have children of her own. She has never divulged this information to Rip, despite the fact that it may have grave repercussions for the two of them.
“She is unable to shut down that aspect of herself.” She went on to say that there is a great deal of melancholy in it. She came to the conclusion that “[Rip] is unaware of any of that, and she is protecting him.” Therefore, she carries an internal burden that she is unable to discuss with him. However, despite his best efforts to soothe her and show his love for her, he is unaware of the facts.
As for how this will impact the married couple leading up to the season finale, well… I suppose we’ll just have to tune in and find out what happens next.
