Cole Hauser (AKA Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone) went on the Today Show to promote his new cowboy-inspired coffee brand, Free Rein, and share some insight into his daily cowboy routine.

You can watch the interview right here:

Hauser doesn’t just play a rancher on TV. He was born on a ranch in Oregon, he tells Today hosts Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, and Craig Melvin. And he means literally on a ranch.

“No hospital, no nothin’,” he says. “My father delivered me.”

The hosts sampled his Free Rein coffee, which includes flavors such as American Dirt, Heavy Spur, and Homestead. As of yesterday, the coffee is available for purchase on the Free Rein website alongside a selection of Free Rein merchandise. A portion of the proceeds goes toward supporting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Roker was impressed with the flavor, remarking on how he usually takes his cup o’ joe with plenty of cream, but would make an exception for this blend.

“I usually like my anchors like my coffee,” he joked, motioning toward Guthrie (Roker is black and Guthrie is white).

The room burst into laughter, including Hauser, who added, “I don’t even know how to respond to that.”

Roker then dove into a segment he dubbed “Cole’s Daily Grind,” where he asked Hauser whether the following morning routines were Free Rein-approved.

Hitting the snooze button? “Never,” Hauser replied. “Get up and get after it is the theme of the coffee business.” Although he admitted, his wife had to give him a shake this particular morning after a lengthy road trip.

Making the bed daily? His wife does that.

Exercising before work? For him, work is exercise.

Morning skincare routine? Surprisingly, that one’s a yes. “Little bit of Kiehl’s,” he says, patting his cheeks.

Journaling? “I write all the time,” he says. (Perhaps a cowboy-themed book could be next up for Hauser).

And finally, watching the Today show? “Come on now.” Hauser winks as if to say isn’t it obvious? He points to Roker. “I love this man right here, he’s got one of the best smiles in the world.”
