  •  Yellowstone expands its universe with two new spinoffs set in different time periods, including a present-day story in 2024.
  •  The new spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, will delve into different eras, offering fresh perspectives on the Dutton family’s ranch.
  •  With the original series ending, Yellowstone is ensuring its fans will have more captivating content to look forward to in the near future.

Yellowstone is getting two new spinoffs set in different time periods as the original series comes to a close. Previous spinoffs of the Western drama include 1883 and 1923, shows that explore the Dutton family’s ranch around a century before the events of the main series. Another spinoff titled 6666 is also in development, shifting focus to the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed two more spinoffs of Yellowstone have entered development. One is the previously announced 1944, which was reported as a sequel to 1923. Another is a present-day story with the current title of 2024, though there is no information about what this spinoff will involve.

The Yellowstone Universe Continues Its Expansion

The announcement of new spinoffs comes as the main series sets a premiere window of November 2024 for its final episodes. 2024 in particular is a new announcement, indicating it will be a present-day spinoff taking place around the same time as the original series. It’s possible this show is the upcoming Yellowstone

sequel starring Matthew McConaughey, taking up a year-based title befitting other spinoffs.

Beyond 1944, 2024, and 6666, franchise creator Taylor Sheridan teased up to four other prequels when speaking to THR in June. This means these new shows are just the start of the series’ expansion across a massive timeline of Dutton family history. It also reflects the franchise’s evolution from having a focus on John Dutton and his kids to a Western epic spanning multiple generations.

However, it remains to be seen how new spinoffs following the end of the main show will fare compared to the popular original. While 1923 managed renewal for season 2, it’s unclear if other spinoffs will perform just as well once Yellowstone is over. Even so, it’s clear Sheridan and Paramount have major plans for the series even after the flagship series has come to a close.
