How Sister Wives Will Move Forward Amid Family Destruction

With the Brown family at odds, it isn't hard to question how Sister Wives will move forward for its new season and if it will highlight more issues.

After multiple seasons, the Sister Wives stars are farther apart than ever, thanks to Kody Brown’s lackluster leadership, which brings up questions of how the show will continue. Kody was once a proud polygamist who bragged about his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown. But over the years, Kody failed to please all four spouses, and now his selfish ways have broken his once-proud family dynamic.

TLC knew they had a hit on their hands with Sister Wives, as it wasn’t a story that had been told before. Living as a Mormon was hard enough, but when the network found a polygamous family willing to share their world, they knew they had struck gold. In 2010, Kody introduced his unique family, sharing that they lived in Lehi, Utah. Practicing polygamy was illegal, with the family living in fear every day that their patriarch could be arrested and thrown in jail. Kody and his large family always came across as positive and loving, but after 13 years, their lifestyle started to take a toll on them.

Why Sister Wives Was Special

Almost instantly, Sister Wives was special since it gave a voice to Mormons, particularly those who practiced Polygamy. For years, polygamy had been represented in the news as devout religious cults, thanks to names like Warrens, Jeffs, and the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). Instead of the nuclear TV family that consisted of a mother, father, and two children, Sister Wives

showed a unique perspective that helped humanize many families who lived and believed in the same things as the Brown family did.

Robyn Brown Is Rebranding

Even though the Sister Wives stars used to be close, most have pulled away. Kody has lost his first three wives to divorce, and is now only left with his fourth wife, Robyn. However, it looks as if Robyn is looking to rebrand after being crowned the villain of the show for the last few seasons. It makes sense that Robyn doesn’t want to be caught between a rock and a hard place if Kody were to turn on her. The mother of five’s thought is to revamp My Sister Wives Closest in hopes of making her own money, which would give her the option to leave Kody if she ever desired.

Sister Wives season 18 has already been given the green light, with Christine sharing she is filming from her new home in Utah with her fiancée, David Woolley. Without a doubt, this new season will be extremely different since it will show Kody living a monogamous life with Robyn, while his other three wives navigate the single world. Even amid the family destruction, the show must go on since it will at least boost the network’s ratings.
